Tai Pak, Chester Hill

Living far out west at Chester Hill means choices of food are scarce, Tai Pak has been around for as long as I can remember and has always been known as a decent source of Chinese takeaway in the area. Delivery Hero offered us a chance to check out their online food delivery service (more on this below) so I decided to grab something from Tai Pak to have for dinner with the family 🙂

Tai Pak Mountain Chicken

Seeing as the restaurant is a typical Cantonese Chinese restasurant I thought I might try something a bit different. The chicken itself was quite average but the sauce and marinade was an interesting blend of sour and saltiness, it probably included some mystery herbs and spices!

Spicy Calamari

The ever popular fried spicy calamari is actually done quite well here, I was surprised because the little morsels were deliciously crunchy and not too oily as I thought they would be.

Braised King Prawns with Black Bean Sauce

Probably the least popular dish mostly because I went with an odd combo of black bean sauce and king prawns, it was edible but not the best option. This is probably the first and last time I’ll order this combination as prawns definitely aren’t a good choice for black bean.

Satay Fillet Pork

This was a little bit oily compared to all the other dishes but that’s expected from a satay based dish, the pork and onions were cooked and tasted relatively average but the sauce was tasty! Overall an enjoyable meal from a restaurant that has been around for a very long time, just goes to show how popular it is with the locals to still be operating after so long!

Delivery Hero

Thanks to Delivery Hero we were able to check out the easy and convenient online food ordering system they offer – the first step to getting food at your doorstep is to provide your suburb. The site is very straightforward and easy to use, as a techie kind of guy I really liked the usability and design of the site which even those less familiar with the internet would find easy to use.

Once you’ve selected your suburb the website lists out all the restaurants in the area that offer a delivery or pickup service through Delivery Hero. All the information you need is presented and the next step is as simple as selecting the restaurant you want to order food from.

The best part is picking all your food which is yet another easy process, once you’ve finished selecting your dishes just click checkout and follow the remaining instructions to pay via credit card or paypal. After this a confirmation text/email is sent to you and your food will be on it’s way!
