Chur Burger, Surry Hills

Miss K & I were trying to think of something quick to eat before watching a movie last Saturday, the first decision was to grab something cheap near the cinema but then we realised we had over an hour so I had the idea of visiting Chur Burger and praying the line wasn’t long. Upon arrival we discovered almost no line and it took about two minutes for us to be seated despite the bustling restaurant nearly completely full, while observing the crowd I realised that this was the same premises as Assiette before they closed!

I already decided that I wanted to order the Chicken burger with hot sauce mayo and minted slaw (above) because I spotted someone having it right next to the counter and it looked delicious. I was very pleased when I took my first bite (the hot sauce mayo is awesome). I’m now conflicted on whether or not I love Chur Burger or Grill’d more, it’s definitely a hard decision and they both have interesting and delicious burgers.

Miss K decided that she wanted the beef burger because she normally picks chicken, it was hard decision though because both of us wanted the pulled pork burger as well. When I ordered the beef burger I snuck in an extra order for bacon (she didn’t realise) and when it arrived Miss K was like “Oh look they gave us bacon too!”. She still doesn’t know that I put the order in, though I guess she will when she reads this! 😀 Back to the point, I had a bite of this burger also and have to say the meat is very tender and the pickles with mustard mayo went quite well with it. The burgers here give me a more cafe/brunch feel because of the ingredients they use.

Having really enjoyed the chilli salt chips at Chanoma the other week, we decided to give these ones a go as well. Although the chips were delicious, I wasn’t really tasting any of the chilli until the end where all the salt fell down to – luckily the crispy chips made up for that and I would definitely order it again!

I really enjoyed the food at Chur Burger, it’s easy to see what all the hype is about and why the place is always jam packed at night and some lunch times. The burgers are all $10 with sides going for $5, that makes for a pretty delicious and affordable meal that anyone can enjoy. I’m definitely going to try and head back to give the pulled pork burger a go next time I’m around the area!
