Pho 236, Newtown

Suprisingly enough Mr C and I don’t eat Vietnamese cuisine very often because we just never go by any good places, most being further out west than we usually are 🙂 However one night we decided to stop by Pho 236 to see if the food was decent and we were happy to find that it wasn’t bad at all!

As you can see from the photo above we ordered the standard Pho which is obviously a must order at a restaurant with Pho in it’s name. I hadn’t had any of this dish to compare to in over a year but I thought the broth was quite fragrant and delicious.

Sprouts

The standard sprouts with lemon and basil leaves which is almost always served with Pho anywhere you go.

Red Rice with Beef

Mr C felt like some rice and meat so he decided to order the red rice (tomato based) with Vietnamese stir fried beef, I have to admit I didn’t find anything too special about this dish but it tasted great and filled us up regardless. Mr C really enjoyed it but then again he’s a fan of any red meat 🙂

The interior of the restaurant is nothing flash, it’s your basic cheap Asian takeaway restaurant with flimsy decor and questionable hygiene standards (I’m sure it’s fine!). In any case I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a cheap and efficient feed in Newtown! Dishes are approx $11 each.
