Rabbit Hole Bar and Dining is a quirky wine bar and restaurant which has been open for almost three years, I’ve been hearing much about the excellent drinks menu. The restaurant is discreetly located downstairs just off street level on Elizabeth st near St James station and is very busy on a Friday night.
Slow roast lamb sliders, beetroot & onion relish, aioli, emmenthal & brioche
I went with the slow roast lamb sliders which were a very good choice albeit very filling. I wasn’t expecting the sliders to be as large as they were so when I realised I had four to finish it was a bit of a struggle. Overall a very tasty and fullfilling dish, the only fault was that the lamb patty is a little bit dry
“Rabbit Hole” wagyu beef burger on brioche with brie cheese and house made tomato relish
The wagyu burger looked like one monster of a dish with plenty of melted brie cheese (my absolute favourite) and the interesting BBQ based tomato relish. The burger is quite large and also comes with a side of pickles which you can spy just behind the burger pictured above.
Roasted beetroot, pumpkin and kipfler potato, picked radish, carrot and beetroot and frozen goat’s cheese
This was one of the more healthier vegetarian options, it came out very nicely presented and the person who had it definitely seemed to enjoy it. I could smell the fragrant roasted beetroot from the other side of the table and it definitely smelled delicious.
Hand cut fat chips with house made tomato relish
I have to admit I definitely wasn’t expecting full chunks of potato with the fat chips but nevertheless I did enjoy the crispy morsels of potato, I think wedges would have been a more apt name. The relish is again the interesting BBQ based tomato relish served with almost every dish.
After hearing so much hype about the place I was worried I would be disappointed at first but I actually walked out quite happy with the whole experience. The restaurant and bar has a nice feel to it with lots of quirky decor scattered around and an extensive drinks menu.
