Glenmore Hotel, The Rocks

The Glenmore Hotel is a popular pub located within the heart of The Rocks. The famous rooftop bar is one of the biggest draws and both tourists and locals alike flock there on sunny days for great drinks, Modern Australian food and simply to soak in the amazing views.

Swordfish – sugar cured, pickled ginger, radish, cucumber, white soy, baby shizo

The food menu is quite extensive and consists of a number of sections including share plates, burgers and main sized dishes. We decided to start with the cured swordfish which is quite similar to sashimi but with a slightly more chewy texture and a distinctly sweet taste.

Hot Wings – smoky, sticky, devilled chicken wings, chilli, shallots, coriander, lemon

When we saw hot wings on the menu we decided to grab a single serving to start which turned out to be very delicious and smothered in the sticky hot sauce. What we didn’t realise however was that a single serving of this entree consisted of a very generous serving of over a dozen wings in a bucket.

Sirloin – 300g grain fed black angus, mashed potato, broccolini, field mushroom, jus

The sirloin steak was definitely the highlight of our meal. The cut of steak which is used was top quality and it’s served exactly as ordered with a simple side of cherry tomato, mushroom, potato and broccolini.

BBQ Beef Ribs, half rack of sticky bbq ribs, fries, coleslaw

We simply couldn’t resist ordering ribs just because we both had a sudden craving for them. They’re delicious and well marinated in a sticky bbq sauce, then served with the usual side of fries and coleslaw.

Lychee and Elderflower – ciroc, paraiso, sparkling wine, elderflower cordial, lychee, lime, strawberry, apple and strawberry juice

Pimms – pimms, fresh summer fruits, fresh mint, ginger ale, lemonade

The drinks menu is also quite extensive with plenty of wine choices, beers on tap and a number of different cocktails. We decided to check out two different cocktail jugs which were tasty, refreshing and easy to drink.

As you can see, the panoramic view from the rooftop bar is simply stunning. Lucky for us, the weather on the day that we dined miraculously became relatively warm and sunny (it was a rainy day) just an hour or two prior to our visit. The rooftop bar gets busy very fast so make sure you book or get there early for a table!
