MoVida Bar De Tapas, Melbourne

The photos were taken at Melbourne’s #1 Spanish restaurant Movida Bar De Tapas! I hesitated at first because of the price and I didn’t think it would be filling enough for me (I eat alot), but I definitely was wrong!

The tapas were SOOO GOOD! Don’t misjudge them thinking they look a bit off if you’ve never tried Spanish before. I’m very defensive about this restaurant. They’re just so good ! They have really unique dishes that I won’t be able to find again in Sydney. No wonder they say Melbourne has more exotic and creative food, at least compared to Sydney? Turns out that Movida Bar De Tapas is actually a two chefs hat in Victoria 🙂

Apologies for the dark photos, it was quite difficult to get a good shot of most of the dishes. The lighting was really dark and dim in the restaurant, but that ended up creating the romantic atmosphere for C and I 🙂

I think I enjoyed the Air Dried Wagyu with Egg the most ! I loved how you had to spread the egg yolk over the Wagyu, it’s so different and new! AND DELICIOUS. When the waitress was serving it for us, both couples on our left and right were staring at our food. They’re so jealous please. Some elderly man started a conversation with C too about our choice in food. 🙂

C’s favourite dish was the ‘portobello mushrooms’.  It had some vinegar, sour taste to it, tasted funky but so good. Too bad I couldn’t finish mine since C ordered too many yummy tapas and mains and I was too occupied with those 🙂

I didn’t really feel like dessert since I was too full but C insisted since we’re not going to have anything yummier than this in Sydney. I was very thankful that he convinced me I ordered Pear sorbet with pears and some crumbs on the sides. THE PEAR SORBET WAS SOOO GOOD! I took tiny little bits cause I wanted to take my time eating it.

I didn’t really want to share it with C but since I’m a caring girlfriend, I offered him half my sorbet. I still have that taste til today ! I loved the icy texture to the sorbet. Apparently that dessert was a new dish and I was one of the many lucky customers to taste it first on that day! Will I ever be able to find that same pear sorbet in Sydney? I think not 🙁

Mr C ordered Churros or something 🙂 He had a tub of chocolate to dip his donuts in. He says he likes his churros more than mine pear sorbet, but I think I’ve dated him long enough to know that he secretly likes my pear sorbet more =)

Price: 8/10. A bit pricey for the mains even though they were quite small servings but it was worth the food ! Most dishes are about $5-20 with a small serving size, some go for higher.

Service: 9/10. High rating right? They did really have amazing service, really friendly staff but they were so busy serving other customers and they took a while to give us our glass of water, its okay because they were booked out for the night.

Atmosphere: 7/10. I wish their lighting were SLIGHTLY brighter so our photos would have turned out better. But nevertheless, I enjoyed the romantic atmosphere.

Food: 10/10 Must I explain? It is Movida Bar De Tapas after all 🙂
