Sultan’s Table, Enmore

I recently visited Sultan’s Table on Enmore Road with family for mothers day (albeit a late one). I’d heard lots of good things about this restaurant so ended up booking for a Sunday night.

We started with the 8 Mix Dips (above) which was a hit, there was mixes of yoghurt, beetroot, carrot, chilli, hummus and other dips along with turkish bread (below). The bread is made in a little area at the front of the store and served at the table hot and cripsy, I really liked the bread and we ended up having to order a second serve to keep everyone happy before our mains arrived.

Turkish Bread

Stuffed Vine Leaves

Eggplant stuffed with vegetables

The vine leaves and eggplant came as our starters, unfortunately the vine leaves weren’t very popular because they were too sour for most, the eggplant on the other hand was devoured within seconds of it arriving at the table. The whole eggplant is split and stuffed with delicious tomato and other veggies to give it a creamy texture which everyone really enjoyed.

Chicken Shish Kebab

Minced Beef (Lamb?) Pide

Another very popular dish was the Chicken Shish, everyone absolutely loved the smoky chicken and bread that came with it. I personally enjoyed the pide more (no picture unfortunately) but everyone else fought over the chicken shish, the salad was also very good and was completely cleaned out on every dish.

The minced beef pide was quite popular also although I have some doubts on whether the right order arrived or not since the waiter said it was lamb when it was served. Regardless the dish was great with lemon and came on a crispy base kind of similar to a Lebanese pizza which I really should review!

Turkish Ravioli with Yoghurt Sauce

This dish came last as most people were fairly full, it was definitely the most interesting of the dishes – it certainly doesn’t look very appetising but its very good! I think the best way to describe it would be to say it tastes like Gnocchi with yoghurt sauce topped with a pile of spices, I actually liked it quite a bit even though it was very different from what I was expecting.

Baklava

For dessert we ordered the Baklava and was given an extra one free so that each person at the table could have a taste! I have to say it was probably one of the best Baklava I’ve had in a very long time and really loved it. I would probably come by here to get the Baklava alone for takeaway because of how good it was!

The restaurant started off quite empty at around 5:30pm but quickly filled up by about 7pm until there were no seats left. I would guess that on Fridays and Saturdays a booking is a must if you want a table. The front of the restaurant is takeaway with slightly cheaper prices but no seating, whereas the back is a warm and enclosed dining area for table service.

Overall definitely a good feed and one of the best Turkish/Middle Eastern restaurants in Sydney, it’s clear why the restaurant gets so busy on weekends and I would definitely recommend it to others.
