Mojos Tapas Bar, Bondi Beach
Our last visit to Bondi was a bright sunny day in Sydney, perfect for a walk to see Sculptures By the Sea. Not very far from the starting point of the sculptures is Mojos Tapas bar, we decided on something lightweight compared to our usual lunches so Mr C and I could accomplish our walk without feeling extremely bloated and having that feeling when you eat so much and you’re so full that when you try to stand up you just can’t do it. The restaurant is quite small and cosy and definitely has a great beachfront view of Bondi Beach.
The thumbnail photo is Albondigas Al Ajillo – Meatballs in Tomato Puree. I had a choice between these or the Patatas Bravas and of course I went with the meatballs as I personally want to try meatballs from every cuisine aside from just Swedish. They come out as 4 large sized meatballs and I was pleasantly glad they didn’t turn out dry, rather, they were soft and no sides were over or under cooked. The distinctive sauce could be described as rich tomato flavour but it’s not entirely tomato and has other ingredients too.
A tradition when we visit a tapas bar, we must always order some sort of mushroom based tapas. I simply love the garlic taste as it brings out a really delicious flavour to it especially with the button mushrooms soaked in with the mouthwatering sauce. You can never go wrong with ordering this, mushrooms can be cooked in many fantastic ways and garlic mushrooms are my absolute favourite because of how strong the flavours come out in the dish.
We wanted to attempt to be a bit ‘healthier’ by ordering some non meat-related tapas so here we decided to get potatoes! These turned out to be the most stand-out tapas, that cream they used and the way the potatoes were cooked…it was absolutely rich and tasty. Spiedo’s Rosemary Potatoes had always been my top favourite potato dish but I believe Mojos have outdone it by far. The distinctive and creamy texture of the sauce really made the potato really enjoyable to munch on. Oh did I mention how big and chunky they were?
I’ve been overly obsessed with seafood again and I couldn’t resist forcing Mr C to order these. Although there were only 4 pieces of prawns, however they were quite large and that meant more of the amazing chilli sauce to smother them with. I do believe a good restaurant are those who peel the prawns without me going through the fuss of doing it myself but maybe I’m just lazy, kudos to Mojos!
Complimentary entree bread when we were seated. I can’t say they were the best entree sized breads but they were very yummy when dipped in the meatballs sauce and all the sauces left over. 🙂
It was a beautiful day to drink Sangria as well especially because of the hot weather, the drink was very refreshing and I do enjoy the fruits accompanied with the drink rather than alcholic drinks by themselves. I’m definitely a fan of Mojos Tapas Bar and will probably keep this in mind as one of my favourite spanish restaurants in Sydney!
