Mary’s City, CBD

With all the recent fuss about burgers in Sydney you would think that we’re a city completely obsessed with them. Mary’s City opened up on Castlereagh St in the CBD a few days ago and the hyped up comments are almost as plentiful as people in the line waiting for their burgers.

Chicken Burger

The very ordinarily named burger hides how awesome it really is. Since this branch of Mary’s is only a takeaway they don’t offer the infamous fried chicken by itself, instead it’s been made into a burger variation which retains all the amazing crispy batter yet juicy chicken inside and is smothered in delicious mayo.

The classic cheese burger at Mary’s never looked very photogenic, it makes up for this with a seriously tender medium to medium rare beef patty and a lot of melted cheese. Mr C decided to add some crispy bacon to this which was a really good choice as beef and bacon burgers are seriously the best.

The fries here aren’t anything amazing and are pretty standard thin french fries. They taste quite similar to the ones at McDonalds actually but either way I would order them because fries go so well with burgers.

The menu is pretty simple (and really nicely designed), they have four choices of burgers and a bunch of sides and drinks to pick from, there are a few meal deals as well. The burgers are slightly cheaper than the Newtown location since it’s all takeaway and there are no seats to be found.

I love that they opened a CBD location because it’s so much more accessible than their original location in Newtown, it’s good to see that it’s a little bit cheaper too. I can’t wait for the day they begin offering fried chicken with their amazing mash potato and gravy. Note the ‘Get Fat’ underneath the Marys logo 🙂
