It seems that every few months a new ramen joint opens up shop in Sydney and Yasaka Ramen is the latest this year to do so. The new restaurant near World Square boasts a great selection of different types of tonkotsu broth good enough to rival some of the best already available in Sydney.
Tonkotsu Miso Kakuni (soft pork bone) Ramen
I arrived a little late to this #luncharoundtown session so we missed out on all the entrees including plenty of takoyaki. The others had already ordered their ramen including the delicious looking tonkotsu miso with soft pork bone, I managed to grab a shot before it was swiftly devoured.
Tonkotsu ramen is one of my favourite dishes and I could happily eat it all day without get sick of it. I always welcome new ramen joints because it’s interesting to see how they compare to the classic favourites like Gumshara, Ichiban Boshi, Ippudo and Menya.
I consider Ippudo to be the best in Sydney right now since I prefer their combination of broth and noodles, my first impression of the Yasaka ramen is that it tastes surprisingly similar which is a good sign! The ramen is not too thick and has the distinct tonkotsu taste while the noodles are cooked just right.
No Ramen. No Life. Amen. It’s always great to have more choice and this is no exception, Sydney has a great choice of excellent ramen which I think we almost take for granted. A meal here will set you back around $15 but it’s totally worth it for a huge bowl of filling noodles.
