Catalina, Rose Bay

Catalina, Rose Bay

Just last week I had the pleasure of checking out the new bar and cocktail menu at Catalina which is located at Rose Bay, right by the water near the ferry terminal. I imagine most people arrive either by car or ferry but for those more adventurous you also have the exciting option of leaving via the seaplanes which are located right by the restaurant and are what give the restaurant it’s name.

Blueberry Mojito and Bitter Passionfruit Campari

The drinks menu is a sight to behold with almost 30 pages to go through. There are a few pages dedicated to the cocktails which were admittedly quite refreshing and which all seem to have very fruity theme to them which fits the summer atmosphere. You also have the option of all the classics.

Jamon Iberico and Tomato Bruschetta

The colours of this dish were the first thing I noticed when it arrived, vivid reds and hints of green on a spotless white background. Of course the jamon and tomato with a touch of balsamic was also delicious.

Beer Battered Goujons, Sauce Gribiche

Out of the four dishes I found this one to be the least exciting. The easiest way to describe it would be to compare them fish fingers, albeit very delicious ones with a very nice mayo to accompany it.

Tempura Prawns with Ponzu

I’ve always been big fan of tempura prawns so it was a given that I would enjoy this one regardless. As a ponzu sauce fan I also found the dipping sauce to be an interesting and welcome addition.

Catalina House Smoked Salmon, Persian Fetta on Toasted Sourdough

This dish was probably my favourite of the lot, each bite was an mashing of flavours and textures stemming from simple but fresh ingredients. Absolutely delicious and one I would order again without hesitation.

Everyone I know who has visited Catalina raves about the views and for good reason. The restaurant is situated out over the water right in the middle of Rose Bay with stunning panoramic water views both from inside (floor to ceiling windows) and from the bar area outside on the deck.

I was also impressed with the quality of the food despite it being only from the bar menu and would certainly love to visit again to check out their full a la carte menu which I hear many good things about.

  6. With havin so much content do you ever run into any issues of plagorism or copyright infringement?
My blog has a lot of unique content I’ve either created myself or outsourced but
it looks like a lot of it is popping it up all over the internet without my agreement.
Do you know any techniques to help stop content from
being ripped off? I’d definitely appreciate it.

(from what I’ve read) Is that what you’re using on your blog?

  13. I was curious if you ever considered changing the structure of your site?

Its very well written; I love what youve got
