Firefly, Neutral Bay
Firefly at Neutral Bay is a nice little casual restaurant and bar with an extensive menu of tapas style dishes and a huge drinks menu, there didn’t seem to be any particular cuisine theme throughout the menu but I would definitely categorise most of the dishes as delicious comfort food.
Canadian seared scallops – beets, almondaise, basil oil
This was likely the fanciest dish of the lot, I was quite wowed by the presentation at first but now looking back it seems a little bit messy. Despite that I was very happy with the taste of the dish, the tasty scallops went quite well with the beetroot and basil oil in particular.
Bacon/cheddar fries with truffle oil and Parmesan. And aioli.
I absolutely fell in love this dish and I hope they make it a permanent menu item. How could you ever go wrong with bacon and cheese fries let alone the fact that there’s also truffle oil and aioli included?
Lasagna Burgers
I’m not sure what there is to say, it’s as close as you’ll get to a delicious heart attack in burger form. The lasagna tastes exactly as you expect it to taste while the onion rings were quite nice and crispy.
Grilled haloumi ~ watermelon, mint, toasted almonds
I’ve never thought of haloumi with watermelon, it was an interesting taste at first but I prefer them seperate. In fact I ended up eating the cheese first and then the watermelon, both of which were very nice.
I definitely enjoyed the meal at Firefly, it certainly wasn’t the healthiest meal that I’ve had recently but I don’t think that’s the point of the festival of guilty pleasures which is currently running at the restaurant 😉 The dishes here are all crowd pleasers and definitely a great place for a nice and relaxed group meal.
