Kellys Bar and Grill, Bondi Junction

Kellys Bar and Grill is a restaurant located on the top floor of Bondi Junction which specialises in steak and rib dishes. The location of the restaurant gives it a great view of Sydney Harbour and the eastern suburbs which is quite nice in the evening and the venue is generally quite busy most days of the week.

200gm Eye Fillet w/ 250gm Pork Ribs

The star of the meal was defintiely the steak and ribs which was the main course, these are what most people who visit Kellys order. The steak was a great cut of eye fillet, pasture fed – TAS, served medium. The ribs were tasty but required some extra barbecue sauce (available on every table) to make them perfect.

I quite enjoyed the lemon pepper mushrooms which are basically sauteed mushrooms smothered in lemon juice and a hint of cracked pepper, unfortunately they are quite sour and some people may prefer garlic sauteed mushrooms instead. I personally love both types of mushrooms.

Since there were so many entrees that we wanted, it was difficult to decide and we ended up going for a mixed entree platter to be able to try a bit of everything. The chicken wings and garlic prawns were the winners here, we even ended up using the garlic cream sauce for dipping chips!

The camembert cheese was an interesting entree, I generally prefer deep fried brie over camembert because it melts faster and oozes out after you cut into it. The camembert was tasty but unfortunately the texture was solid and not quite what I was expecting from the dish.

Overall I thought the meal was quite good but there were a few minor points which would have made the dishes just right, the steak and ribs were definitely my favourite of the lot and I quite enjoyed the mushroom sauce and chips that were served on the side. Kellys also has a huge menu to decide from and there’s definitely much more to try including their seafood.
