Cafe Del Mar, Darling Harbour
Cafe Del Mar is a stylish restaurant located at Cockle Bay Wharf down serving up a mixture of Modern Australian dishes in a well designed venue. The restaurant also features a beautiful outdoor rooftop terrace with views of darling harbour and a dedicated bar and drink menu to match.
Seared scallops, baby carrot escabech, spiced carrot puree, jamon serrano
Beef carpaccio, asparagus,poached egg
Of the two starters I have to say that the scallops were definitely my favourite of the two, they were cooked to perfection and served with an interesting carrot puree. The beef carpaccio was also quite nice but they were definitely overshadowed by the scallops.
Grilled swordfish, gem lettuce, peas, broad beans, jamon serrano broth
Thyme gnocchi, king brown mushroom, corn, tallegio, asparagus, cavalo nero, ricotta salata
We enjoyed both the mains that were served, the swordfish dish came with a flavoursome broth featuring jamon serrano and peas. The gnocchi dish was served with delicious king brown mushroom and vegetables.

Brussel sprouts, walnut vinaigrette, ricotta salata, lemon
baby leaf salad, shaved radish, mustard seed vinaigrette
The sides were served alongside a number of different mains, we definitely enjoyed the fries served with aioli and the baby leaf salad was also nice. Unfortunately we didn’t quite enjoy the brussel sprouts.

Burnt honey pannacotta, slow cooked quince
We also definitely enjoyed the desserts, even more so because they were each served with a scoop of delicious vanilla bean ice cream. The desserts both featured cooked fruits which I found quite interesting.

Cafe Del Mar is a beautiful venue so it’s only right that their choice of drinks for the bar is just as great. The outside venue is perfect for drinks and the cocktail menu is extensive. We sampled out a few of their cocktails and I definitely enjoyed the Raspberry Honeycomb Caiprioska.
The outside part of the venue overlooks the whole of darling harbourwith sweeping panoramic views. It was a bit chilly the evening we dined but on other nights I can see it being a bustling venue with a roaring trade.
