Bah BQ, Crows Nest

Miss K and I were recently surprised with an awesome little package of condiments from Bah BQ in Crows Nest (same as those pictured above) for use at home, having been fans of Brazilian BBQ or Churrasco as it’s also known we were happy to not only find the usual favourites such as chimmichurri and tomato salsa but also others such as chilli jam and cassava flour.

The gift also  included an invitation to dine at Bah BQ which we’d heard was one of the best Churrasco restaurants in the northern suburbs of Sydney, we normally don’t visit Crows Nest but there seems to be a lot of great restaurants in the area and Bah BQ looked to be one of the more popular establishments

Herbed rice with toasted almonds

Polenta, cassava, cheese bread and crumbed banana

Rocket and parmesan salad

Creamy potato salad

Black bean and streaky bacon stew

The setup is a little different here, for $49 you get 5 starters and condiments as well as the usual Churrasco meats served rodizio style (buffet). Any extra orders including drinks are on top but I personally think that $49 is a really good deal considering the quality and quantity of the food you get here, I find that the best part of Churrasco are the condiments and seasoning, both of which Bah BQ do really well.

Miss K and I agreed that the side dishes were all really good, Miss K especially liked the rice as usual but I enjoyed the potato salad and rocket salad are perfect accompaniments for the huge amounts of meat.

Unfortunately the whole dinner was such a whirlwind that I can’t distinguish between some of the meats anymore so I’ll take a best guess at which one was which. I’m quite certain that the two above are pork and lamb cuts which were the first two to come around to our table fresh off the fire, the delicious aroma wafted over our table as it came around and after our first bite we knew the meat would be good here.

Chicken Wings

Beef Rump

Chorizo Sausages

These three were easily our favourite meats, beef rump is the one which I always ask for multiple servings because it’s usually the most juicy and delicious cut. Chorizo and chicken wings are always good so we usually try and get a few of those when we get the chance because we find that due to the huge variety of meats on offer, each meat will only come around every hour or so.

Beef Tritip

Beef Shortribs

Haloumi Cheese

Aside from those pictured there were also other meats we didn’t try such as chicken hearts, we’re not that adventurous unfortunately! The beef tritip and shortribs were tasty but nothing beats good old beef rump.

Most churrasco restaurants also offer a number of special meats such as prawns, haloumi cheese, garlic bread and fish which is great because that means any meal at a churrasco restaurant provides huge varieties for those that hate choosing (such as Miss K). The haloumi and prawns (not pictured) were tasty, I especially love prawns which are pre-peeled like they are here so that’s a bonus 🙂

Corona & OPA Lager

Keeping up with the South American theme we went with a Corona (okay maybe more Central American here) and Brazilian OPA Lager which I’d never tried before. Corona was the winner here as I kind of expected but OPA Lager does have a great clean refreshing taste that remind me of German brews back in Europe.

Ananas

Miss K has a huge obsession with pineapples and everywhere we went in Europe she would look for ‘Ananas’ which is the term used in pretty much every other language for pineapple. Roasted pineapple seems to be a scrumptious staple at churrasco and when we saw it coming around we instantly had flashbacks to our first churrasco experience where we gorged ourselves on so much pineapple we could hardly walk afterwards 🙂

Churros with Caramel and Dark Chocolate

At this point in the meal we were both struggling to fit in anymore food but Churros were on offer and one does not simply ignore Churros. I was quite surprised to find that these particular ones were not crispy but in a pleasant way, delectable caramel and dark chocolate dips made this an awesome way to finish the meal.

I’ve always been a fan of churrasco and it’s great to discover great new eateries of any cuisine, especially when they’re cheaper than their competitors! Bah BQ should be a must visit for anyone that’s a meat lover or a fan of buffet, Miss K and I don’t eat too much because we’re tiny but we think that $49 is still a great deal so if you eat a lot then definitely check it out for a delicious and filling dinner!

Mr C and Miss K attended as guests of Bah BQ Brazilian Grill and The Bamboo Garden. All views and opinions expressed are our own.
