The Bristol Arms, CBD

The Bristol Arms, CBD

The Bristol Arms is a busy little pub located on Sussex St down towards the business end of the CBD. I had the pleasure of recently visiting the newly renovated rooftop bar to check out their menu, I was surprised to hear that such a place existed because I’d never knew it was here beforehand.

Rump Steak – 250g grain fed black angus

Sirloin – 300gm pasture fed rib sirloin, mash potato, roast corn

This visit included a number of other guests so we managed to cover quite a lot of the dishes. I personally ordered the Sirloin and enjoyed a seriously delicious piece of steak perfectly cooked medium rare and served with a delectable gravy. Definitely glad to know of a new place for good quality steak.

Crisp Skin Barramundi – lemon, fennel and leak, potato, citrus crème, herb salad

Unfortunately I didn’t get to try any of the barramundi but by all accounts it was a great dish. The dish consists of a well cooked fish on top of a nice serving of potato and a creamy citrus based sauce.

Lamb Rump – roasted lamb, lemon thyme and parsley crust, crushed potato cake, carrots, jus

Having accidentally ordered an extra serving of lamb rump (one person didn’t show up) we were able to share the portion among a few people including myself. I really enjoyed the well cooked lamb rump but the best part of the dish for me was definitely the delicious crust covering the rump.

Crispy Skin Chicken Wings – sweet tomato relish and spiced aioli

I shared some of the chicken wings with a friend and there’s honestly not too much to say here. I find it very difficult to find a fault in chicken wings and these were no different, absolutely delicious.

Bristol Burger – Black angus, tomato relish, aioli, lettuce, aged cheddar, balsamic onion marmalade, chips

I also didn’t get to personally try the burger (with much regret) but it did look quite good, I personally would prefer a brioche bun on my burger but this one also did look quite good.

Photos say more than I could ever write in words, as you can see the venue for the rooftop bar is amazing. Well spaced out and very bright and airy. The drinks menu is quite extensive and there’s a dedicated bar on the rooftop to cater for the guests. I’ll definitely be visiting again for a work day lunch or after work drinks and I can see why it’s quite busy with the corporate crowd.
