O Bar and Dining, CBD
O Bar and Dining is a restaurant located 47 floors above the ground at Australia Square, the food is Modern Australian and the kitchen serves up delicious fine dining cuisine with an amazing view to boot. The large floor to ceiling windows on all sides provide an amazing panoramic view which rotates at what felt to be around about 1 rotation every 90 minutes.
I had to privilege of visiting the restaurant with thanks to Bindaree Beef to try a menu based off their beef. The company supplies great products to various high end restaurants around the country.
House made soy tofu, bindaree beef dashi, sea urchin and radish, beef floss
The house made tofu is amazing in texture, very silky and smooth. The broth made of bindaree beef accompanied with radish and beef floss gave the dish a lot of it’s great flavour. The only downside to the dish would be that the sea urchin was quite overpowering.
The meal starts off with some complimentary bread and whipped butter. We also had a delicious cocktail to start the meal which was made with mulberry, lemon, sugar, champagne, bitters and sugar.
The steak was the highlight of the meal and for good reason as well, it was prepared perfectly medium rare, well marbled and had amazing an amazing taste. The sides including onions, mushrooms and wheatberries were all items that I knew I would enjoy. Those who are interested in purchasing the beef for themselves can be find it at The Australian Meat Emporium in Alexandria.
I’m generally not a fan of dessert but the mix of various chocolate items served up was too good to pass up. Topping it all off was the delicious ice cream on top.
To finish off the meal we were served petit fours which were a fix of various interesting treats (most with alcohol). The dessert cocktail consisted of a mix based on dark rum, white chocolate liquer and red wine.
As you can see from photos, O bar and Dining itself is the main attraction. It’s absolutely stunning and the restaurant maintains a perfect balance of atmosphere between an intimate dining room and a casual relaxed space. The views are best especially at sunset and photos will never do it justice.
