Wildfire, The Rocks

Churrasco has always been a favourite of ours but with not much choices in Sydney it’s a little of disappointing. Wildfire at the Overseas Passenger Terminal is one of the more upmarket restaurants that offer the famous brazilian barbecue with some of the best views that one can get in Sydney overlooking Circular Quay and the Opera House.

The churrasco menu at Wildfire is quite pricey in comparison to others such as Braza Churrascaria but they also offer a more fine dining experience with good presentation and a classy atmosphere along with complimentary sauces including my all time favourite Chimmi Churri sauce. The food is quite good although I’m sure it’s much more fresh on a Friday or Saturday night when turnover is high.

Just like all other churrasco restaurants, the chefs come around with assorted meats including beef rump, chorizo sausages, prawns, pork, chicken, fish and other side dishes. The concept is the same in that you eat as much as you can and the chefs will keep coming around, take note that for lunch at Wildfire the express menu seems to imply you only get one round of meats.

The sides such as chips or potatoes generally cost extra, however the sauces are complimentary and Chimmi Churri is easily the best sauce to go with all the meats. Drinks are also an expensive extra but Wildfire does a very good Lemon and Lime Bitters which I really enjoyed and they have a huge menu of wines and other drinks.

To finish off the meal we shared a quick berry based cocktail (it was a weekday lunch) as we didn’t have stomach space for dessert, it turned out  be very nice and a refreshing finish to all the meat we just had.

Although Wildfire is quite a pricey option they definitely do a very nice churrasco and would suit a more special occasion. I’d love to come back for a birthday or special event as the venue is really nice and they have a very good selection of meats, albeit not as wide of a range as others.
